Carrying on my theme of playing with ideas and paper and pen, I decided to do a monogram, and here’s the result.

If I’d thought ahead and either made this smaller or made the paper bigger, I could’ve added dangles to it.

I’m not at all sure of the coloured patterns I added around the outside of the monogram display; I didn’t choose some of the colours wisely. I do like the subtle grey “feathers” there though.

I also think I may need to thicken the outlines of the letter and/or create shadows on the design behind the letter so it looks like it’s standing a bit proud of the design.

All the same, I’m enjoying creating and exploring and experimenting with my art again, and it definitely gets the #weekendvibes going!

I had some fun with this one. Lots of zentangle-y patterns in a zentangle style ‘string’. I eventually worked out how to get a better ‘separation’ of the areas that worked aesthetically for me (and was more my kind of style). I added a quote and some darker shades of the same colours in the background it was all done.

I am enjoying my current phase of just creating for the sake of creating, especially adding quotes in very simple hand-lettering. I expect there’s going to be quite a few more created as time goes on.

Oh, the holes are in the top as I took the sheet out of my A5 discbound sketchbook; I’ve coloured most of the pages with distress ink in various ways. Should I wish to frame or reproduce this, I can easily remove that area of  the page.

I also quite like having the empty space above the quote and design. My art can become very, very busy and intricate, but this seems to bring some balance to the overall design.

I really am on a daisy-kick in my drawing lately! Such happy little flowers, resilient too.

I did do this drawing last Monday, but decided to post it today after I spent much of my morning colouring one of the templates for Entangled Butterflies (available to preorder).

Imagination is important. Einstein said, “Logic can take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.”

My art is often imaginative, nearly always intuitive, and this is an example of both.

I’m trying out ideas for making use of hand-lettered quotes with my kind of entangled art. This is today’s offering, and it’s part of my #fridayfeeling and #weekendvibes.

It’s unusual for me to leave so much white space in a drawing/illustration.

I used Towmbow Dual Brush Pens with a blender pen to colour the mosaic sections.

This morning I finished the coloring templates for Entangled Butterflies. I do have to edit some of them, but I decided to take a break for the rest of the day and work on some ideas that flashed in my mind. These two drawings/illustrations are the result.

I like the abundance one very much. Daisies seem to be my thing at the moment. The inspire one was much better until I added shading to the banner, and then the yellow. It’s all a case of learning for the future.

Both hand drawn using a Sakura Micron PN pen, and colour added using Faber Castell Pitt Artist brush pens.

A strange bouquet or a weird tree, with a wise quote above it. I really shouldn’t have continued to add elements to the drawing once I’d added the quote, but it is as the quote says, small steps in the right direction of learning.

Today I give the second of my anti-stigma talks for Time to Change Wales.  Today, it’s just a couple of miles down the road from me.

I was tired yesterday after my talk; not physically tired, emotionally tired, and I still feel a little so this morning.

I started drawing this before I went off yesterday, did some more work on it last night and finished it this morning.

Art really helps soothe my emotions and helps me find that place of calm, contentment and balance.

That’s my #tuesdaytip.  Find something you can lose yourself in, that brings you peace and calm and contentment and a break from the stresses, worries, problems of life. It’s all about self-care. For me it’s art or making music, sometimes taking a walk, and mindfulness meditation. For others it could be gardening, baking, woodturning, swimming, cycling, or any one of a myriad activities that bring peace and contentment.
