Lazy, arty, Sunday afternoon

Angela Porter 10 June 2018 watermarked

I dug out one of my Lamy fountain pens, which had a black ink cartridge in it. I swapped the black for green, and drew this on some bristol board.

From time to time I dipped the nib in the black ink so I had some gradients and variation in the drawing.

It was fun to do. Also, it’s been a while since I drew with pen on paper; most of my work of late has been digital drawing, with the occasional pencil/pen sketch on paper.

BuJo May 2018 Cover Page

dav I know, I know – a second blog post of the day.  However, I thought you might like to see my cover page for my BuJo for May 2018.

I’m well ahead of the BuJo game here I think, but I needed a bit of sparkle and shine today, and the colourful background I created just cried out for golden stars.

I had fun doing this, but now I have to focus on the other pages for this month, which will have a starry theme, or perhaps just golden, who knows yet?

‘Believe’ bookmark

Angela Porter believe bookmark 15April2018Believe … in yourself.

I thought I’d spend sometime today finishing off this bookmark design.

I’m not too happy with the colours, a bit too dark, but I can always re-colour at some point.

Digitally drawn and coloured, though I did sketch the writing out and scan it in to help me write it on my Microsoft Surface book with my Microsoft Surface pen.

Dream Big

Angela Porter Dream Big Dangle 4 April 2018

Today’s small dangle design.  Lots of shimmer and sparkle on this one, though it’s not photographed all that well, mounted on a 5″x7″ card blank.

Let me know if you’d like to see a printable digital download of the design available in my Etsy shop, Artwyrd.

A Dangle A Day, my upcoming book, is available for pre-order now.

Friday is Dangle Day!

That’s right!  From henceforth Friday shall be known as Dangle Day.  Well, on my blog and the other places I can be found on the interwebs.

As you may know, I have a book coming out later this year that’s all about drawing dangle designs; it’s called A Dangle A Day and is available to preorder now.  In it, I’ll be leading you through, step by step, drawing dangle designs, amongst other things, so you too can create dangle designs like these!  Yes, you can do it!

So, I plan to post at least one completed dangle project each Friday, and this week there’s a bumper crop of five of them.

The cards I’ve made over the last day or two are dangle designs, but not ones to be found in the book. These are all drawn with pen on paper and coloured with either Tombow Dual Brush pens or Kuretake’s Zig Clean Colour Brush Pens.  I’ve also added dots and highlights using Sakura’s Metallic and Stardust Gelly roll pens, not that you can easily see them in the photos.

I will, in the near future, have an announcement to make about a giveaway.

Halloween Entangled Octahedron

Halloween Octahedron Montage _ Angela Porter _ 21 Sept 2017

Ok, not the best photo in the world, but the octahedron (bipyramidal) was fun to draw, and the colour certainly brought it to life (death?).

Quite apt I’ve done some autumnal themed work on the Autumnal Equinox.

Crimble card making time again!

I’ve been keeping myself a little busy at times in the past few days making this years crop of Christmas cards.

The materials I used:

  • Kraft cardstock and ready cut 4″x4″ Kraft card blanks
  • Watercolour paper
  • Spectrum Noir sparkle pens
  • Zig clean colour real brush pens
  • Perfect pearls
  • Cosmic shimmer metallic and iridescent paints
  • Nuvo crystal drops by Tonic
  • Sakura glaze pen in black
  • Inktense pencils by Derwent
  • Gold glitter cardstock, matte gold cardstock and mirror gold cardstock from Crafters Companion
  • UHU glue
  • Glue dots
  • White fun foam

And here are the resulting cards; they all shimmer and shine to one degree or another!
