Template Thursday!

This week’s coloring page / coloring template for the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group is a typically entangled, abstract, zentangle inspired and rather weird pen drawing.

It’s going to be interesting to see how people add colour to this design. My example here is the third attempt to find colours that I liked, and even then I really am not fussed on the stuff to the left. I do seem to have an ongoing issue with colours this week.

Drawn with a Tombow Fudenosuke pen, coloured digitally in Clip Studio Paint Pro.

Template Thursday!

Thursday comes around quite quickly, and with it comes a new coloring page, or coloring template if you prefer, for the members of the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group to bring to life with colour.

This week is a fabulous fungi fantasia. I really enjoyed drawing this one, and adding colour really brings it to life. I’ve chosen rather bright, almost psychedelic colours, as is often the case! So, I’m intrigued to see how others will use colour magic to bring the drawing to life.

The design was drawn with a Tombow Fudenosuke pen on marker paper. This version is coloured digitally in Clip Studio Paint.

Here’s the link to a timelapse video showing the drawing of this template.

It’s Template Thursday!

Here is this week’s template for the members of the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group.

I’m in need of cute whimsy at the moment, so a Doodleworlds style design is just what my emotions needed.

Drawn with a Uniball Eye micro pen. Coloured digitally in Clip Studio Paint.

Template Thursday…on a Wednesday???

Here it is, the sneak peek at tomorrow’s coloring template for the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group.

This week, I was asked to create a mandala by Brett, who runs the group. So I did. And this one has a very autumnal theme to it. It is the first day of September and summer is waning away with autumn starting to make it’s way from the wings.

I’ve chosen a rather subdued palette for today’s addition of colour. No doubt I’ll have a different version for tomorrow’s posting!

Color Palette Challenge for August 2021

Link to today’s vlog on YouTube. In it I draw some of the coloring template for tomorrow.

It’s the last Wednesday in the month, so it’s the end of this month’s color palette challenge.

I chose to add colour to the first coloring page of the month for Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group. The colours are bright, cheerful and tropical. I always enjoy a limited palette, though I also mix colours to add some variation in colours, particularly the greens.

I spent the morning drawing this week’s template for the facebook group. If you’d like a sneak peek of some of it, have a look at today’s vlog.

It’s Template Thursyay!

This week’s coloring template / coloring page for the members of Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group is a typically entangled one. But one that’s a bit different too!

Instead of having an outer frame, I’ve included a frame, but behind the drawing. I wanted the elements to grow out of the frame in places, just for a change. And I’ve just noticed where I’ve not coloured a little piece of that frame! Oops! Still, I think that by colouring the frame in, it helps any colourist to work out some of the more intricate and fiddly places where it lies.

I’ve chosen a vintagey, halloweeny colour palette. As we’re nearing the end of August, autumn won’t be far away here in the valleys of South Wales, and the rest of the northern climes. I’m quite eager for nature’s change of clothing. Indeed, I’ve spotted some small changes in colour here and there, a quiet heralding of autumn.

Yesterday, I completed colouring the cover for the book I’m starting on soon for Creative Haven. It was proclaimed as being ‘the cutest thing ever!’ by my editor.

It’s Thursday, so it’s time to release a new coloring template into the magical colorists that form the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group.

I did a bit more coloring of the template this morning, and filmed the process. A time lapse video is the result and can be found on YouTube.

I know it’s two Doodleworlds style templates in a row, but I really needed some whimsy in my life.

Of course, it’s always amazing to see the many different ways people add colour to my templates. Creativity is a wonderful thing!

Template Thursyay!

It’s Thursday, so it’s time for another coloring template / coloring page for the members of the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group.

This week it’s a cute, whimsical and silly Doodleworlds design. Oddly, there’s not a skull in sight! Still, it’s a lovely mood booster, and I need that at the moment.

There’s also a new color palette challenge for August in the group – bright, cheerful and tropical colours. I used the palette to partially add colour to the template.

The template was drawn on A4 Canson Imagine mixed media paper. I added the colour digitally using Clip Studio Paint.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the template is coloured by group members, even using a limited color palette. It’s always great to see how people approach the template differently.

It’s Template Thursyay!

Thursday seems to come around so quickly, and each Thursday means it’s time for another coloring template for the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book fans facebook group.

Yesterday, I created a timelapse video of the pen drawing of this template. You can find the time-lapse drawing video by clicking on this link.

Today, it’s another time-lapse video of colour being added to part of the template. Click on this link to see the time-lapse colouring video.

I added colour digitally, using Clip Studio Paint. Also, I added a grey background. I much prefer using a coloured background, it’s easier on my eyes. Also, the colours seem more vibrant against the grey background.

The template is a typically ‘Angela’ entangled, stylised, abstract one, with some inspiration from Zentangle patterns too.

I always enjoy the way that colour brings the drawing to life, and helps to enhance the layers in the drawing as well. It’s a bit of magic in my daily life for sure.

I’m not entirely sure about my colour choices. I wasn’t trying to keep within a colour palette, just having fun with colour and figuring more about Clip Studio Paint brushes. I really enjoy adding colour to my artwork with both digital art and a limited range of traditional media. I enjoy digital and traditional for different reasons. Digital work takes away the stress of making sure the right colours are chosen. If I mess up, it’s easy to change things without having to start over. It’s relaxing to do, just as art with traditional media, apart from colour choice.

July Color Palette Challenge

Each month there’s a color palette challenge in the Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans facebook group.

This is my completed template using the colour palette for July.

Some of the colours in my finished artwork weren’t in the palette. I mixed colours from the palette to achieve the oranges and purples.

It was a fun project that I completed rather quickly for me. I used it as an opportunity to find out more about some of the blending options for the brushes in Clip Studio Paint. I’m not sure anyone could tell the difference with how this has finished, but I started to understand how some of these options work.

It’s nearly midday, and I think it’s time for breakfast before I turn my attention to this week’s template for the facebook group. Food first!
