Sunday afternoon ‘doodle’

Yes, I know; two doodles in one day. My only decision now is whether or not to colour them and if I do, what media to use!

Today’s ‘doodle’

I spent several very pleasurable hours drawing the picture below.  It’s got a lot more line work in it that I’d add for colouring templates.  It reminds me more of art I did pre-colouring book work.

Now, all I have to do is to decide whether to colour or not!

An afternoon doodle

I’ve just spent a few happy hours drawing a piece of ‘doodle art’ after having learned much yesterday from mimicking the style of piccandle.  I’v managed, I think, to make it much more ‘Angela’.  I may have done similar stuff in the past, but not quite like this.

This has a fair number of design elements that are firmly in the realms of ‘Angela’ art.

It’s now been printed on watercolour paper as well as some alcohol marker friendly paper ready for colouring – my next task.

More mushrooms!

Just like hobbits, I believe there’s only one thing better than mushrooms and that is MORE mushrooms!

In my case that means more needle felted mushrooms.

So, I’ve learned a fair amount about needle felting in making these mushrooms and I look forward to creating more items as time allows.  I suspect my own whimsical, doodly drawings will be a source of much inspiration.

It is, however, much quicker to draw and colour things than to needle felt them.

The large mushroom took around 10 hours to finish.  The smaller ones have taken between 4 and 6 hours to create.

Now, all I have to do is to decide what to do with them!

Season’s Greetings 2016

winter_05_coloured1

Sending each and every one of you all the very best of the wishes of the season. May each of your days ahead be filled with love, joy and all things bright and good!

Thank you to all who have supported me and sent me such kind words too.

Drawn on my Surfacebook, coloured in via Autodesk Sketchbook Pro.

Christmas/Winter Greetings Cards

I’m a bit late getting myself organised this year as to making cards and getting some up on Etsy for sale!  However, there’s still time to buy or order some!

The photographs don’t do these cards justice.  They subtly shimmer with fine gold and silver mica powders.  They have glitter and glitz thanks to Tonic Studio’s Nuvo Crystal drops and Uniball Signo Sparkling pens.  The image panels are ‘popped up’ on foam so they have some dimension to them.

All are hand-drawn, coloured and embellished in my own unique, cutesy, wonky, whimsical style.  There’s no greeting on the the front inside so you can either add your own or ask for them to be customised for you.

They’re all rather whimsical, and each is unique.

Crimble card making time again!

I’ve been keeping myself a little busy at times in the past few days making this years crop of Christmas cards.

The materials I used:

  • Kraft cardstock and ready cut 4″x4″ Kraft card blanks
  • Watercolour paper
  • Spectrum Noir sparkle pens
  • Zig clean colour real brush pens
  • Perfect pearls
  • Cosmic shimmer metallic and iridescent paints
  • Nuvo crystal drops by Tonic
  • Sakura glaze pen in black
  • Inktense pencils by Derwent
  • Gold glitter cardstock, matte gold cardstock and mirror gold cardstock from Crafters Companion
  • UHU glue
  • Glue dots
  • White fun foam

And here are the resulting cards; they all shimmer and shine to one degree or another!

Color Me Stamps!

I have designed sets of clear stamps for Hampton Arts.  The range is called ‘Color Me by Angela Porter’.  It’s been a lovely challenge to do, and another string to my artistic bow too.

I’m being sent my own sets of the stamps and I can’t wait to play with them and embossing powder in particular to get the ‘stained glass’ kind of colours that I so love!

Of course I’ll post my versions here.  It’s all exciting for me!  Everything!

Celtic Blessing for Darya

I was contacted by Darya’s mum asking if I’d ‘do a blessing in the style of your cards’.

This is what I did.  It’s approx A4 in size.

Faffy times…

The last several days have been ‘faffy’ days where I’ve just been faffing around with art and reading and not much else.

The weather has mostly been very wet – torrential rain, high winds at time.  Perfect weather for battening down the hatches and losing oneself in art and craft and reading.

For some reason the drawing pens have come out again, and I find myself lost in the fiddly fussy work that I do, enjoying it too.  It also has shown me how I struggle with colour, unless the colour is purely abstract in itself.

It also allows me an escape from the sting of rejection, the loss of a dream that never ever was, and a chance to let my unconscious mind, my soul, my spirit to start the process of healing and working the way to the person I am meant to be, choose to be, want to be, with a life I’d like.  A life that includes people in it – friends, a found family, and love too.
