Doodleworlds Colouring Page – 12 Jan 2023

This is my first colouring page of the year for Angela Porter’s Colouring Book Fans Facebook group. Last week, I was busy getting all the templates for Whimsical Houses done. I got them all done, but some changes have been requested for a couple. So before starting to do them, I thought I’d just take some time to create some art for fun.

Doodleworlds, my cute, kawaii, doodle-style art, fit the bill perfectly. It always makes me smile to draw drunken party skulls and tentacles, cute critters and monsters, stars and flowers, and more.

I’ve been a bit (to a lot) out of sorts over the past several days. I think I may know what is at the root of it. It’s all definitely a work in progress, though! Art, however, is always where I find solace and calm amid an emotional and mental storm.

I do know, however, that storms eventually run their course. The clouds that hide the sun disperse, and the sunshine, light and surety of mind and heart return. So, my posts and videos are likely to be a bit less frequent for a while longer. But I’ll find equilibrium again, as I always have done.

Oh, it’s nothing to worry about! I am fine, honestly! I just wanted to explain my continued sparseness of posts. All will be fine and well for sure.

Last colouring page for 2022.

Thursday is the day when I create a colouring template for Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook group. It’s also the last one of this calendar year.

I’ve created a mandala that has a definitely starry theme. There are many ways of picking the starry shapes out for sure. I thought that stars radiating outwards would signify light and hope and good things spreading out around the world, a world that needs so much good now.

Doodleworlds Colouring Page

This week’s colouring page is cute, whimsical and silly. It’s one in my Doodleworlds style. Although it has a kind of wintery, Christmassy kind of theme, Hallowe’en has to make an appearance too! After all, the mushrooms, monsters and drunken party skull would be most upset if they didn’t ‘art bomb’ the drawing!

It’s been a long time since I drew some Doodleworlds art, and I’m tad out of practice. But I think it’ll do.

If you’d like to print the colouring page, then you need to head over to the Facebook group called “Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans“. It’s available for free there.

Colouring page for 11 Nov 2022

Usually, I gift a colouring page to Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook Group on a Thursday. This week, it’s been delayed by a day, but I do hope it’s been worth the wait.

This week, it’s a flowy, swirly, abstract mandala. There is a lot of potential for playing with contrast to bring out depth, dimension, volume, layers … There’s no right or wrong way to add colour, the only essential is to enjoy! Oh, and find calm and relaxation as you do so too.

I used a limited colour palette for mine. Though I’d started off thinking I wanted to keep the colours pretty much flat, like in Arts and Crafts or Art Nouveau, but it didn’t end up that way. The colours are, however, inspired by some work in these movements, just given a slightly more modern and ‘Angela’ feel to them.

Colouring Page – 3 November 2022

This week’s colouring page is a typically ‘Angela’ entangled one; it’s just what wanted to flow out of my pen today. And that most probably has a lot to say about what’s going on in my subconscious today. I’m well out of sorts for sure. I think I know what is causing it, but, like the weather, it will pass along.

Colouring Page – 28 October 2022

October is nearly at a close. So, this week’s colouring template for Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook group is my last Halloween-themed one for this year.

I absolutely love Halloween; it’s the only yearly celebration that isn’t filled with triggers for emotional upsets. If I could change the date of my birthday, it would be Halloween! It’s not the horror-filled aspects that grab me, it’s the fun and laughter I associate with this time of year.

I love creating whimsical art all year round, but changing the scary for cute is a lot of fun at Halloween. It makes me smile and fills my heart with joy. As far as I’m concerned, skulls and pumpkins, ravens and potions, ghosts and ghoulies and all the other wonderful things associated with Halloween are not just for Halloween!

Colouring Page – 20 Oct 2022

This week’s colouring page for the Facebook group “Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans” is a Hallowe’en themed mandala. It combines two of my favourite things – mandalas and Hallowe’en!

This design has a whimsical feel, but that is one of my default settings! And adding colour to it makes me feel much happier about the design.

Mandala Colourng Page

Thursday is the day I create a colouring page for Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook group. This week, I tapped into my need to create a calming, peace-inducing, relaxing mandala. I’ve been looking a lot at the work of William Morris, and this is rather influenced by that but in my own way.

I chose a rather vintage colour palette; the muted tones suit my mood today. It never ceases to amaze me how the addition of colour, even done fairly simply as is my wont, and as very much the style of William Morris.

Coloring Page – 29 Sept ’22

I drew this colouring page for Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook group this morning. It definitely has a fair few autumnal motifs; however, any kind of colours could be used!

I’ve partly added colour to the design, mainly to highlight some trickier areas with lots of detail.

Template Thursyay!

Thursday is Template Thursyay! Most weeks, it’s the day I release a new colouring page exclusively to the members of Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans Facebook group.

This week, I’ve designed a mandala full of layers and patterns. I’ve chosen a limited colour palette of soft greens, pinks, reds, oranges and browns; a softer, calmer selection of colours that have that late summer, early autumn feel.

I love drawing mandalas. Seeing the repeating pattern building up is both fascinating and relaxing. Adding colour to bring out the layers and breathe life into the design is a magical process. I’ve not done much with high contrast to bring out the dimension today. Gentleness is the approach needed today both to my art and to myself.

I find it fascinating how my colour choices are often softer, more muted and in limited palettes nowadays. It does make a change from the riotous colours that I so often used not all that long ago, and still do when it comes to the more whimsical and cute colouring books that I create for Creative Haven.

Seeing how others choose to add colour to the colouring page designs I create is also endlessly fascinating and varied.
