Infinity Card – Part 3

I’m really enjoying adding panels to this infinity card. Each panel is a quick project, with no pressure to be perfect or polished. I’m finding them a fun way to explore patterns that develop from one into another, that share common features in some way, or that spark off an idea for another. It’s always a bit of a mystery trip, never knowing what the destination is, only where the journey began.

Today’s journey started in the bottom right with the Zentangle pattern “TagH”. The plumptious, rounded shapes of each part of Tagh, led me to think of circles with flowers inside, like blooming discs or spheres. That led me to Moonberry by Debbie New CZT at the top right. I used some of my favourite leaves and more TagH to fill in the remaining space.

To add volume, I used some red-grey Ohuhu brush markers. Oh, and to draw the design, I used a black Uni Emott everfine pen.

Oh, you may have noticed the notch at the top left. That shows this is also a pocket!

Draw With Me… Zentangle Inspired Flowers, Seed Pods and Peace

On the weekend, I like to do an artwork of some kind using some of the pattern or motif variations that I’ve developed in the week. This week, the seed pods and flowers just needed to be used in some way.

I thought of lettering the word ‘peace’ but decided on using the peace symbol as the focal point instead. Being born in the early 1960s, I do remember hippies, flower power and the peace movement, so popping plenty of flowers and foliage around the symbol seemed the right thing to do.

The seed pods fit in well, and the song ‘Sowing the seeds of love’ by Tears for Fears came to my mind too. so doubly fitting the message of peace.

Naturally, there are some hearts hidden in there too! And the plumptious moonberry blueberries too, adding some delicious goodness too.

The green background was a tad serendipitous. Partway through the drawing, I remembered that green is symbolic of peace and harmony, among other things. Rather fitting!

I’ve only got the skeleton of the design done. I’ve yet to decide on how to add colour, shadow and/or texture. So, I’m taking a bit of a break from it for my mind to mull things over subconsciously. I think I’d better scan the page before I do anything more to it though! Things tend to go awry when I start to add colour etc.

“Moonberry” tangle fragment for day 18 of the Fragments of Your Imagination Challenge, #FYIC2022

This is a lovely fragment, just like a blueberry! I enjoyed my morning arty wanderings, coddiwomple if you will, with this tangle as my starting point. It certainly led down some unusual paths that include flowers and seed pods, barnacles and sea anemones, borders and bling, and even a cupcake!

My work for Adorable Dogs, my latest coloring book for Creative Haven, is now finished. I’ll soon have to design the cover for the next book. But until then I’ll take a little time out to explore some things and maybe put together a book of mandalas.

But not today. Having to download all of the invoices from Amazon for the 2020-21 tax year, my mind is well and truly fried for a while! Anything to do with accounts tends to stress me out just a tad. Still, it’s done now. And I need to take some time to destress. Art is one way for me to do this. Art for calming, meditation, de-stressing. Just what I need. And another mug of tea!
