Inktober 2019 – Day 25

Inktober 2019 Day 25 ©Angela Porter |

Today’s Inktober drawing includes a platypus skull, stylised Crepidotus mushrooms in the outer ring, and the Tripoli tangle pattern in the wide ring.

I’m using Inktober 2019 prompt lists from the Instagrammers @book_polygamist, @nyan_sun and @havepen_willdraw.

I used my favourite combination of Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, Microsoft Surface Studio and Microsoft Surface Pen to draw the design.

As you can tell, I really do love drawing mandalas and adding the skull to them gives an interesting twist I think.

I’ve also really enjoyed drawing skulls in a ‘woodcut’ style.

I enjoy your work! I just received your Christmas coloring book last month. I’ve had it ordered since I heard you were doing one! I’m one of you groupies!

I’m glad you say what programs you use for your artwork. I used to do graphic design in the early 2000’s. Once I upgraded my computer none my programs ran on it. I love painting with computer graphics. Painter by Corel was great but it did tend to crash a lot. I learned to press the save button often! I’m going to buy a new program soon. I took classes and learned painter, illustrator and Photoshop. Those are the programs I used, own. All not useable anymore. I got a degree in graphic design in 2001, right as the .com world crashed so there were no jobs! Anyway, sorry for such a long post! I miss creating things!

I’m glad you enjoy my work too! There is an Angela Porter’s Coloring Book Fans group on Facebook. They’re lovely people and once a month (sometimes more) I provide a free colouring template available exclusively to members of the group.

Autodesk Sketchbook is available for free on Windows and Apple. I do subscribe for the ‘pro’ version, which is exactly the same as the desktop version. It’s easy to use, intuitive and I find it very powerful. Adobe products are so … arcane! Instead of Adobe products I have Serif’s Affinity suite – publisher, designer and photo. They’re affordable, about £50 to buy, but they have offers from time to time. Once you’ve bought them you have them and upgrades for life! They do have somethings missing that the adobe products may have … for now … but they’re constantly upgrading and adding tools and so on.

I do hope that helps and thank you for your comment too.
