Hi Angela! I just bought two of your books–Color Me Happy and Color Me Calm. I was just wondering what kind of colored pencils you use? I have the “scholastic” version of Prisma Colors, but I want to know if there’s a smoother brand or something else to try and make the colors pop better. Thank you! Love your art ♡

Hi Samantha. Thanks for your lovely comment and I’m glad to hear you like my art. I’ve not tried colouring the pages in the books myself (too busy with the next book in the series!). I know people have found the more waxy pencils give good coverage (Crayola work really well, surprisingly). To get the colours to pop, you do need to lay down a lot of colour, and that can be done in layers with the waxier pencils. I’m not familiar with the prismacolours as my brands of choice are Crayola (I kid you not!), Polychromos by Faber Castell, Inktense by Derwent with a light wash of water to bring out the colours (I’d only recommend a very light wash of water with the books and don’t work the colours too much or the paper could pill or break up).
I hope that helps, and happy colouring!
