Knitting for charity

A quick google found this site – Knit a Square.  I think I’ll have to see about getting something like this into school …

And another one Loving Hands Charity Knitters even seems to knit coats for chickens!

Cuddles provides clothes and blankets for premature, stillborn and miscarried babies.

Bonnie Babies, again for little ones and keepsakes for parents who lose a baby.

Handmade gifts for vulnerable children – does what it says on the label.

And these are just a few in the UK …. where to start?

  1. Thanks for finding us and mentioning knit-a-square on your site. Love that you are thinking about introducing it into your school. We have a program called KasKids which is all about kids knitting squares for the children made vulnerable or orphaned in South Africa, and is going really well. There is a schools group on our forum (http://forum.knit-a-square.com) and a teacher resource, and if you wanted any advice on how to get it going, lots of folk who would be keen to help, just open a discussion! Let us know too if you do, we love to publish stories in Square Circle about schools that have become involved. Kind regards, Sandy (co-founder)

    • You are most welcome!
I will be mooting the idea with some others at school in the next couple of days, and see what happens. Thank you for the advice and pointers as to where to look on your site too.
